Inside Las Vegas’ Mob Museum

"There are two theaters in the Mob Museum, and one of them actually saw criminals sent off to their just desserts. The former federal courthouse that once occupied the second floor of the building has been brought back to life as a multimedia theater. The anteroom has the original wooden benches that those waiting to enter the court would have sat on, though now they are also fitted with SolidDrive speakers that play sound effects of room ambiance.

A recreation of the original clock face above the double doors leading to the courtroom is chronologically accurate and counts down the 12 minutes between shows inside the courtroom - an eight-minute program bookended by two minutes of entry and exit, all operated by the show control system, including the hydraulically activated double doors.

Inside, the judge’s desk is flanked by a pair of drop-down 8-foot-wide custom aspect ratio Da-Lite Electrol screens lit by a pair of Digital Projection dVision-30 1080 XL projectors that provide a video narrative documenting Mob criminal activity and investigations during the time in which Sen. Kefauver and his committee held hearings in a dozen cities across the nation. A third translucent screen puts the judge and other characters front and center via a Christie DHD 800 rear projector while a fourth projector, a Panasonic PT-DX800US, creates the backdrop on the wall behind the judge’s chair and completes a holographic effect for the visitors seated in front."
