RTE, French electricity transmission network and key player in the energy transition, has centralized its four Parisian region teams in one single new high-tech head office in main business district in France. The new site features state-of-the art collaboration solutions in its meeting rooms, crisis center and huddle rooms, thanks to a successful partnership with leading global technology firm Barco and reseller Videlio-IEC.

RTE’s new Window building in La Défense, right next Paris, has over 230 CSE-200 and 80 CSE-800  units installed in its meeting rooms, as part of an interconnected technological ecosystem used throughout the digital building. Flagship CSE-800 allows wireless connection to central screen and up to 8 users on-screen simultaneously for moderation, blackboarding and annotation.

Supporting workplace transformation towards increased agility

The integration of Barco early in the design-thinking process of the new office setting is indicative of the central role of IT and AV systems in employee communication and overall productivity.

Arthur Catinaud, engineer in charge of the process, said: “The new Window site has gathered over 2,000 people. This was the opportunity to rethink our workspace to enhance comfort and collaborative spirit. Our work at RTE requires a sharp reactivity and agility because to imagine the electricity transportation of tomorrow. Barco’s ClickShare solution has strengthened our crisis management capabilities by facilitating decision-making among different jobs across the company”. The solution has been perfectly integrated in the full ecosystem by being wired to the networked and managed by a dedicated computer acting as a fire-wall.

Making daily-work easier to increase daily work and collaboration

“Staff and visitors have been positively surprised at how easy it is to collaborate. They are now able to join meetings, share screen and interact with content in over 150 meeting rooms and 166 huddle rooms. Thanks to ClickShare, we have significantly gained in comfort and synergy among different teams”, Arthur Catinaud mentions. A dedicated IT manager oversees managing all meetings room and daily support across the new Window site. Information and training sessions are planned during lunch-breaks, but the solution is intuitive and user friendly, “even our less tech-friendly employees have spontaneously adopted and appreciated using ClickShare”, Catinaud adds.

An “office of the future” requires optimized meetings

RTE’s new workplace resembles the “office of the future” where technology is an integrated feature rather than a tool. Recent research by Barco and Circle Research has shown 12% of time in meeting is dedicated to trying to connect or set up technology. With around 82% of white-collars respondents across the world saying huddle spaces are a must, meetings should allow easier and more straight-to-the-point meetings to ensure comfort, encourage ideation and facilitate decision-making in regulation and crisis situations. The ClickShare solution selected by RTE in its corporate space is a facilitator that could be developed in other RTE offices throughout the territory.

One ClickShare consistent user experience throughout the site

From the Auditorium (also equipped with UDX Barco projector) to the crisis management rooms, meeting rooms and huddle rooms, ClickShare is present in more than 300 spaces and consistently used by the 2,000 team members on site.

RTE entrusted VIDELIO-IEC, an integrator of audiovisual solutions, with the installation and implementation of all audiovisual spaces as part of the relocation of its headquarters to la Défense in 2018. In two buildings, the Window and Palatin Towers, the VIDELIO-IEC teams deployed 400 meeting spaces, an auditorium, a boardroom, three crisis management rooms and a large LED wall in a cozy space.
