The visual center of the global event was a projection mapping display on the north tower and general assembly wall of the UN’s New York City headquarters. The show was subsequently re-broadcasted as part of the Global Citizen Festival coverage in front of 60,000 attendees in Central Park who were treated to performances by leading pop artists.
A 10-minute animated show introducing 17 Global Goals was designed and produced by 59 Productions. 17 animations told an individual story of an illustrated goal depicted in three stages: an impression of the problem, the goal in action, and a desirable action.
DWP Live, a Tennessee-based video production company, spearheaded the AV programming and installation, expertly managing the 3D projection mapping. Because the piece featured a vast amount of 3D modeled animation, 2D graphical content and live action green-screen footage, DWP Live chose Barco’s HDF-W30 Flex and HDX-W20 Flex large venue projectors for their ultra brightness and smooth blending capabilities.
“This particular piece was a giant public display in New York seen by thousands of residents, delegates and UN staff, as well as television and online audiences worldwide. It’s an event that we’re humbled and proud to be a part of,” said DWP Live founder and president, Danny Whetstone.
Project Everyone is the brainchild of Richard Curtis, a filmmaker and founder of Comic Relief.
