Bogotá, Colombia - (March 16, 2017) - Christie® visualization technology, including LCD flat panels, 3D projectors, a videowall controller and the Christie Brio collaboration system were recently installed in the control room of the Ecuador office for Halliburton, a leading oilfield service provider. The room was kitted out by Nuvosign, an Ecuadorian company with proven experience in the integration of digital signage solutions.

The room, given the name DecisionSpace - 3D Asset Management Center (DS-3D AMC), is a decision-taking and monitoring center where Halliburton can observe the details of production, perforation and geological data through its own integrated platform in real time. It is also used as the company’s main meeting room and for regional and global videoconferences. “For Halliburton, this unique control room has raised the bar because we can now monitor all our workflows in one single place, which makes it so much easier to make decisions in real time,” explained Mario Cevallos, coordinator of the Monitoring Center for Halliburton.

The visualization platform is integrated with Christie FHD552-X LCD flat panels and Christie Mirage HD6K-M stereoscopic projectors. Together they create a videowall run by the Christie TVC-700 controller, which enables channels to move between panels and projectors. In addition, the control room has several workstations that project their information onto the videowall where it can be readily visualized.

The Mirage projectors, equipped with two input cards, enables Halliburton to use two different types of projection depending on the input used. Input 1 can be used to generate a blending projection close to 5 meters with a NVIDIA card installed in a projection workstation. Two standalone projections can divide the screen using Input 2 connected to the Christie TVC-700. For 3D projection it uses an active system developed by Halliburton for its own stereoscopic applications, in order to visualize geologic information in 3D.

The Christie Mirage HD6K-M is a 3DLP® technology stereoscopic projector, with HD resolution and 6000 lumens ANSI which is ready to use and delivers high performance. “It is a wonderful system that provides a bright, sharp image even with ambient light,” said Alejandro Martín García-Cancela, general manager of Nuvosign.

The Christie FHD552-X panels in use are professional grade 55-inch LCD panels with ultra-narrow bezels. They deliver full HD resolution, high pixel density and a LED-backlit screen. As García-Cancela pointed out, “these screens comply with the high standards required by this type of professional installation thanks to their brightness, high resolution, image quality, and because they are so easy to install and integrate.”

As well, the Christie TVC-700 digital display wall processor has the capacity to simultaneously manage hundreds of sources and show them in high resolution any place, at any size and in any number of windows across a videowall. The PC-based TVC-700 is easy to handle and was purpose built to stand up to the demands of a 24/7 control room. “It is really cost-effective and had everything the client was looking for,” said García-Cancela.

Furthermore, in the control room Halliburton has installed the Christie Brio Team+ presentation and collaboration system. “It is connected to a Christie TVC-700 channel and is generally viewed through projectors, and mostly used for collaborative meetings,” explained García-Cancela. “Thanks to its wireless access it gives us the versatility we were looking for. And I would also underscore the fact that it can work with up to five computers, smartphones or tablets at the same time,” he added.

The general manager of Nuvosign was delighted with the overall installation: “It took a lot of hard work from many different teams, but we managed to create a control room that is totally unique in the country, thanks to a very effective combination of two technologies —the LED panels and the 3D projectors.”
