Electro-Voice sound for La Llotja de LleidaCompact XLD and XLE sound systems from Electro-Voice are providing a perfect balance of form and function at “La Llotja de Lleida,” a striking new six-floor conference and theater venue in the Spanish city of Lleida.
Designed by architects Mecanoo & Labb, La Llotja de Lleida is more than just a building: it symbolizes its city’s drive towards growth, modernization, and internationalization – as also represented by a brand new airport and recently reconstructed international high speed train station. The Electro-Voice equipment installed by the theater division of Madrid-based Chemtrol certainly does this multi-purpose masterpiece of modern design justice.
“The auditorium at La Llotja has been designed to provide the best acoustic quality,” says Juan García, head of the tech department in Chemtrol’s theater’s division. “The space, with a total surface of 850 sq m and a capacity of 1000 seats, is used for a wide range of applications, including opera, theatre, acoustic concerts, cinema, and conferences, so reliability and flexibility were a main consideration, along with sound quality. Moreover, we knew Electro-Voice line-array systems were installed in several top auditoriums in Spain, and we had tested the professionalism of (Electro-Voice Distributors) AUPROSA’s crew before, so this was definitely the right choice.”
The auditorium system comprises (24) XLD281, (4) Xi-1082, and (6) XCS312, powered by (16) CP3000S/II amplifiers and processed via a NetMax N8000-1500 which operates as a crossover, EQ, and level supervisor.
Located on the second floor and enclosed by glass walls, the 400-capacity conference room – one of two at the venue – is serviced by a compact PA system featuring (12) XLE191 and (2) XCS312 cardioid subwoofers, also powered by CP amps and processed with an N8000-1500.
