Shure’s Matching Grant Rallies Industry to Raise $50K for the NSCA Education Foundation
Posted on Monday, March 24, 2014

March 24, 2014 – Cedar Rapids, IA - The National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Education Foundation is pleased to announce that the fundraising challenge initiated by Shure Incorporated has been met, and more than $50,000 has been raised for the NSCA Education Foundation as a result of their pledge.

Shure, the world’s leading manufacturer of microphones and audio electronics, pledged a matching contribution of $25,000 in an effort to bolster the AV industry’s commitment to protecting the next generation of systems professionals. The challenge, issued in September 2013, and ending on March 1, 2014, was promoted through various industry media channels and grassroots fundraising efforts. Responding to the challenge were other manufacturers and industry members who also felt a strong stewardship for the AV industry.

“Our Company has always placed a high priority on being a good corporate citizen,” said Sandy LaMantia, President and CEO of Shure. “It’s something that Mr. Shure established from the very beginning of the Company, and today remains as one of our core values. We are also deeply committed to education. This partnership with NSCA provides us with an opportunity to support the next generation of systems integrators and aid the continued growth of the commercial audio industry. We applaud our fellow manufacturers that joined us in this collaborative effort.”

Going into the NSCA’s Business Leadership Conference in late February, the funds raised through other manufacturers hovered at just more than $15,000. During the conference, another strong supporter for our industry, Surgex, pledged to bridge the gap between the $15,400 and the $25,000 target. With its $10,000 donation to the NSCA Education Foundation, Surgex was able to push fundraising dollars over the $25,000 mark to secure the match by Shure. Present for the pledge were Chuck Wilson, NSCA Education Foundation Executive Director; Shannon Townley, President of Surgex; and Stephen Kohler, Senior Director of Marketing for Shure Incorporated.

Says Chuck Wilson from NSCA, “The Foundation will use the contributions to provide opportunities for individuals to become further engaged in the industry through scholarships and access to NSCA Best Practices Conferences and its annual Business Leadership Conference.” Adds, Shannon Townley, “Surgex has long been a supporterof the NSCA Education Foundation and a proponent of building a solid corporate and industry culture. We applaud Shure for initiating the challenge, and we are happy to be in a position to respond.”

The next major event for the Foundation and its fundraising will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Las Vegas during InfoComm14.
